PRESS REPORT
OVER PEOVER WOMEN’S INSTITUTE MEETINGS
THURSDAYS 28th MARCH 2013, 25th APRIL 2013
“Liquid Embroidery” and “A Wardrobe That Works” were the subjects of the talks at our last two meetings. The first included a demonstration of fabric painting by Kathleen Pointon who was inspired by a friend 35 years ago and has been doing it ever since. This talk was enhanced with amusing stories and personal anecdotes and members enjoyed trying it for themselves. Truly scrumptious cakes were provided by Rosalind Jackson and Mary Bowers. The speaker at our last meeting is a fashion writer and personal styling and shopping guru. Johanna Bolhoven urged us to create a mental picture of ourselves and a positive image to give us confidence in finding the best possible personal style. She gave style tips and pointers for different body shapes and recommended “detoxing” to leave a coordinated and practical wardrobe. This was another highly entertaining and very useful evening rounded off with home-baked delights from Rowena Topham and Rosemary Johnson.
Ann Brooks reported on the CFWI meeting and urged members to enter the Cheshire Show. June Leach presided over discussions about future trips, resolutions, village hall cleaning and our annual dinner in August. “A Mile of Mice” is to be laid around the Altrincham Football Pitch and Mary Bowers is taking part in this fundraising effort for the Alzheimer’s Society by getting sponsorship to knit mice. Group WI had a good meeting with an excellent multi-talented Welsh entertainer. Invitations have been sent to other WIs to join us for our “Garden Meeting” in June.
Over Peover WI meets at 7.30pm on the last Thursday of the month at Over Peover Village Hall. There is a friendly and welcoming atmosphere and speakers are invariably of a very high standard as are the homemade cakes and tea to follow. New members are always welcome. Come and visit.
