REPORT OF MEETINGS 25TH AUGUST & 27TH SEPTEMBER 2011

Our social evening in August at The Roebuck in Mobberley was very well attended. A brief meeting was held which included news about the talk on 12th October by Adam Henson from Countryfile and one on 25th October by Fred Dibnah’s widow, Sheila. Arrangements for various trips, painting classes and the Village Show were all efficiently organised before we all relaxed and enjoyed our meal in our private dining room. The food and service were excellent and everyone agreed it was very good value and a lovely evening.

Mrs June Leach opened the September meeting with the singing of Jerusalem. The trip to the Eyam well dressings and the costume museum at Hope had been much enjoyed and those who went to Buckingham Palace to see the Fabergé collection, the State rooms and the Duchess of Cambridge’s wedding dress were still buzzing with excitement from their visit. There was news of the Carol Service in Chester Cathedral on 7th December and arrangements for the trip to see “Top Hat” at the Lowry on 5th October.

Keith Vigurs then spoke about ‘Mystery Shopping’. It was a most interesting and humorous talk of his experiences spying on the supermarkets in order to make sure they provide a good service for customers.

Mrs. Ann Brooks and Mrs Minty Day provided the flowers and the delectable refreshments. The flowers were presented to Julie Haighton to thank her for her sterling work organising our trips. On Thursday 27th October George Eccleston will talk about “Mary Queen of Scots”.
