Rural Crime Survey

I wanted to get in touch to let you know that today I have launched a Rural Crime survey that will run throughout the summer.

Around two thirds of Cheshire is classed as rural, and I know from the contact I’ve had from residents and elected representatives across the county that rural crime can affect everyone. From theft of equipment and dangerous use of country roads to harming wildlife and anti-social behaviour, the scope and impact of rural crime is varied.

Through this survey I hope to build a better picture of how rural crime affects different communities across Cheshire. I want to understand what our Rural Crime Team does well and what good practice can be expanded further, and I want to know where the police approach can improve and which issues residents believe need a greater focus. People’s feedback will give me a greater insight into how I can hold the Chief Constable to account for how Cheshire Police prevents and tackles rural crime.

Rural crime has the potential to devastate livelihoods and wreck the scenic countryside we have on our doorstep. Whether we live or work in a rural area or visit there to enjoy one of Cheshire’s many natural beauty spots, I believe we all have a stake in ensuring our rural areas and communities are protected.

Each year the smaller authority prepares an Annual Governance and Accountability Return (AGAR). The AGAR has been published with this notice. It will not be reviewed by the appointed auditor, since the smaller authority has certified itself as exempt from the appointed auditor’s review.

Any person interested has the right to inspect and make copies of the AGAR, the accounting records for the financial year to which it relates and all books, deeds, contracts, bills, vouchers, receipts and other documents relating to those records must be made available for inspection by any person interested. For the year ended 31 March 2022, these documents will be available on reasonable notice by application to:

Local government electors and their representatives also have:

  • The opportunity to question the appointed auditor about the accounting records; and

Written notice of an objection must first be given to the auditor and a copy sent to the smaller authority.

The appointed auditor can be contacted at the address in paragraph 4 below for this purpose between the above dates only.

PLATINUM JUBILEE PICNIC – CANCELLED

Unfortunately, due to the large number of local events and the subsequent difficulty in obtaining supplies, Peover Superior Parish Council has made the difficult decision to cancel its Picnic in the Park event on Thursday 2nd June commemorating the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

We have, however, purchased commemorative mugs for all primary school-aged children living in the village. These will be given to the children after the half term holiday. If your child lives in the village but does not attend the primary school, please email the parish clerk with your address. Arrangements will be made to distribute the mugs after the holiday.

Also, we are very pleased to announce that the book Over Peover – A Cheshire Parish, originally written for the Queen’s Golden Jubilee, is to be updated and made available before the end of the year.

BOOKINGS ADMINISTRATOR

Over Peover Village Hall Management Committee are looking to appoint a part time Bookings Administrator to assist in the day to day running of this unique venue.

A job description is attached below. If you are interested in this role, please contact me via email address  june_leach48@yahoo.co.uk  to arrange a time to meet and discuss the role.

Over Peover Village Hall is located off Stocks Lane in Over Peover and is a historic building having been transferred from Colshaw Hall where it was used during the First World War as a rehabilitation ward for injured Service Personnel.

It is currently used by the Parish Council, the local Church and the WI for meetings and events and is hired to local residents on several occasions.

The Management Committee comprises of members of the Parish Council, the WI and the local Church plus co-opted members.

Currently there are twelve members involved in retaining the Village Hall as a highly thought of venue and as an asset to the village of Over Peover.

Preparations for the Village show get underway

The date is set (3rd Sept), the show guides and entry forms are all printed. So make a date in the diary and start to think about what you are going to enter, the theme this year is Let’s Celebate. Full details can be found under village hall

Carols around the Christmas Tree

St Lawrence Church would like to invite residents to sing Christmas Carols around the village Christmas tree again this year. Please join us on Sunday 19th December at 4pm. All are very welcome.

Colshaw Hall Fireworks

We would like to notify all residents that there will be two firework displays at Colshaw Hall, one on Sunday 21st November at 7pm and the second on Friday 26th November at 7.45pm.

Colshaw Hall is sorry for any inconvenience caused to residents. Both of these weddings were postponed from the weekend of Bonfire Night in 2020, and the couples both requested continuing with fireworks when postponing.

Community Speed Watch Programme

If you would be interested in helping reduce speeding through the village then please join our Community Speed Watch programme.

A small group of volunteers regularly meet to monitor the speed of cars driving through the village. All equipment and training is provided. If you have a little time to spare and wish to come along to the next training session, it is being held by the Police at Marton Meadows Golf Club between 11am and 12pm on Wednesday 17th November.
